Fun Parfaits

Presentation is a huge part of serving food and dessert and everyone knows it. Foods that look appealing to the eye can really make your mouth water. And these fun parfaits take the cake for presentation.

The simple elegance of the two colors neatly separated by a diagonal line create a stunning presentation.

Super easy and simple to put together, these parfaits can really stun whoever you choose to share them with. So today, I'm really sharing a creative idea with you rather than a recipe with more pics and less words.

I'll also show you how to make the candy decorations for the tops of the parfaits.

Here goes...

Fun Parfaits

parfait glasses
box of jello
custard or pudding mix
whipped cream topping
white candy melts (or tempered chocolate)

Clean your parfait cups and set them to dry. You can use shot cups or dessert glasses for this.

Make your jello according to the instructions on the box and stop before setting it.

Set your serving cups at an angle by propping them up by something. I found that putting the parfait cups in a cupcake pan worked for me. Evenly distribute the jello mix into the cups and set them aside until they are completely firm.

Make your custard/pudding according to the mix and set it aside to cool. Do not put it in the cups until it is completely cool or else the jelly will melt and the two will mix. Once the jelly is set and the custard is cooled, pour the custard on top of the jelly and leave it to cool some more.

In the meantime, you can make decorations. If you want to make these, then you can use candy melts or tempered chocolate. I would recommend using candy melts because it's easier and I don't want to explain how and why you have to temper chocolate.

Melt the candy melts as directed. Put it in a piping bag with a small circle tip or make your own by using a ziploc bag and snipping the end off.

Print a butterfly picture and lay it under a sheet of parchment paper. If you want your butterfly to be dimensional, trace the two halves of the butterfly separately.

Once the halves have set, prop one wing up at an angle and join it to the matching wing with some more melted candy. Leave it to dry.

Serve once the parfaits have chilled thoroughly, with a dollop of whipped cream and your candy decorations on top.
